Carb Cycling

What is Carb Cycling?

A carb cycling program is an intentional variation of carbohydrate intake each week. Just as the name suggests, you’ll cycle through higher and lower carbohydrate intake. Most carb cycling plans consist of alternating high carb days and low carb days.

Why Carb Cycle?

Long term restriction of carbohydrates and calories can lower a client’s metabolic rate and negatively impact their hormone levels. This is a big reason women find themselves at a weight loss plateau. For a short period of time, a significantly restrictive diet will bring results. However, over time it will cause the client’s metabolic rate to decrease. Once that happens, clients will see their weight loss stop and will need to restrict calories even further to lose more, thus lowering their metabolic rate once again. Not only is this a terribly unhealthy way to live, it is also incredibly frustrating.

What Does Carb Cycling Do?

Carb cycling allows for planned high carb days that increase thyroid output and help control hunger. Because clients are cycling their carbs, they will also have low carb days that offset their high carb days. With this type of cycle, clients will continue to see fat loss, increased energy levels and improvements overall to their body composition.

Intermittent Fasting

The Science Behind Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent Fasting encourages the body to burn fat while maintaining lean muscle mass. But because you’re mixing periods of higher calorie consumption with lower calorie consumption, you don’t get as hungry as when you’re not eating. And, unlike restricting calories, Intermittent Fasting doesn’t lower the body’s basal metabolic rate long-term; in fact, it increases it.

After you eat, your body works hard to digest your meal. As you break down your meal in your digestive tract, nutrients are released into your bloodstream. That means your body often has excess fuel and that excess gets stored as fat (thanks to insulin). When you fast, your body has to rely on its energy stores by burning fat and glycogen. So, through Intermittent Fasting, you train your body to burn fat instead of storing it.

Although most of my clients join the FASTer Way to burn fat, Intermittent Fasting also helps them enjoy many other health benefits as well.

Effective Fitness (Aka 30-Minute Workouts)

Stay healthy, active and slow the aging process through movement. While many of my clients enter the FASTer Way already participating in some sort of a fitness routine that they love, the FASTer Way Digital Studio includes an exciting variety of exercise modalities to appeal to different preferences. These workouts are not only convenient, but they provide a social aspect and sense of community. Even while at home in their living room, my clients are connected to a fitness community to keep them motivated and engaged.

The key to client success and significant fat loss is truly the nutrition cycle. Exercise is incredibly important for building lean muscle, increasing metabolism, and improving strength. However, if clients are unable to exercise because of injury or are simply coming from a sedentary lifestyle, they will still experience tremendous results from following the nutrition cycle.
